J&S Custom Furniture Co. Terms & Conditions

Orders, Retainers & Lead Times

An 80% non-refundable retainer is required to hold a spot on our wait list.

Because all J&S furniture and millwork is handmade and custom-built to order, all completion dates and lead times provided are estimates only. There is no compensation or refund for orders that extend beyond an estimated completion date.

There are no returns or exchanges. All sales are final.

By placing a retainer, the customer acknowledges and agrees to these Terms & Conditions.

Payment

The remaining invoice balance is due upon pickup or delivery.

All orders being shipped must be paid in full before they leave the J&S Custom Furniture Co. workshop. No order will be released to a carrier, freight company or other third-party delivery service until payment has been received in full.

Overdue accounts are subject to a service charge of 5% per month.

Delivery, Installation & Fitment

Delivery and installation are available at an additional cost.

Installation charges shown on an estimate are estimates only and may be adjusted following installation based on the actual time or work required.

J&S Custom Furniture Co. is not responsible for third-party moving fees that exceed an estimate provided.

When supplying measurements to J&S Custom Furniture Co., customers are responsible for ensuring that the ordered item will fit through all hallways, elevators, entrances and other access points into the home or business.

If an item does not fit, additional delivery, modification and/or re-fitment fees may apply.

Site Conditions & Post-Installation Movement

J&S Custom Furniture Co. is not responsible for movement, misalignment or changes to furniture, millwork or installed products resulting from building settlement, shifting, structural movement, changes to walls, floors, ceilings or openings, or other environmental or site conditions occurring during or after installation.

Adjustments, realignment, modifications or service required as a result of these conditions are not considered defects in J&S Custom Furniture Co.’s materials, workmanship or installation and may be subject to additional service charges.

Pickup & Storage

Furniture must be picked up from our shop within 5 business days of notification that the order is ready. Storage fees may apply after this period.

Custom & Commercial Work

J&S Custom Furniture Co. requires a minimum of 4 weeks to build custom furniture and millwork following final site measurements.

Any changes made after final site measurements may result in additional charges and may delay completion.

J&S Custom Furniture Co. is not responsible for fitment where incorrect measurements are supplied by the customer, designer, contractor, trade partner or another third party.

Trade Partner Commissions

Commissions are issued to trade partners once the applicable order is complete.

Trade partners are responsible for client management and must act as the third party between J&S Custom Furniture Co. and the client.

It is the responsibility of the trade partner to ensure that all furniture items are properly specified and ordered for the client's space. If these responsibilities are neglected, commissions may be reduced or not issued.

All commissions must be pre-arranged with J&S Custom Furniture Co. before an order is placed.

Natural Wood & Material Characteristics

Due to the natural characteristics of reclaimed wood and solid wood furniture, samples provided may not exactly match the final product.

Solid and reclaimed wood may exhibit cracking, checking, surface variations or defects, staining, grain and colour variations, and changes over time. These characteristics are inherent to natural wood and are considered part of its character and aesthetic.

Steel, Patina & Care

All J&S steelwork is coated with a beeswax conditioner and polish designed to allow a natural patina to develop over time. Rust and oxidation are normal parts of the patina-building process.

Beeswax conditioner should be regularly applied once per week during the first few months of ownership to allow the conditioner to penetrate the steel and build a protective layer.

Following this initial period, conditioner and polish should be applied approximately once every 1–3 months, depending on atmospheric conditions and use.

Before using your furniture, we recommend buffing all steel and wood surfaces completely dry with a dry cloth. This helps ensure that excess beeswax polish does not transfer onto clothing.

If proper care and maintenance are not performed, J&S Custom Furniture Co. is not responsible for resulting damage or defects, and applicable warranty coverage may be void.
